NPS directs visitors via Wildcat Campground and the beach; the informal cliff shortcut is not a maintained park trail.

Plan your visit

From Palomarin, follow Coast Trail northwest past Bass and Pelican lakes. Stay on Coast Trail at the Ocean Lake Loop junction and descend to Wildcat Campground. Use the campground beach access, then walk south along Wildcat Beach to the falls only when tides and surf permit. Return the same way.

NPS gives a 13-mile minimum return hike from Palomarin. Its beach section is approximately 1–1.1 miles one way.

Coastal hills, switchbacks, exposed beach and tidal hazards. Do not proceed if waves reach the cliff bases.

Where to start

Palomarin's gravel lot is at the northwest end of Mesa Road near Bolinas. The final 1.2 road miles are unpaved. Entry may close when parking fills; obey no-parking signs.

Timing & water

Beach passage depends on tides, surf and available sand. No tide height guarantees safe passage.

Before you go

NPS lists no entrance or parking fee.
