Upper Lewis River Falls is the tallest of the four major falls on this stretch of the Lewis River in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, a 58-foot drop where most of the river stair-steps down a trough beside a sheer plunge. From the Quartz Creek Trailhead on Forest Road 90, follow the Lewis River Trail downstream, passing Taitnapum Falls at about the halfway point, to the falls. WTA describes a lower viewpoint and a second viewpoint, up a steep climb, about a quarter mile upstream of the lower one. The Northwest Waterfall Survey says the best access to the pool below the falls is from the north side of Alec Creek where it enters the river. The falls can also be reached by walking upstream from the Middle Falls trailhead. Return the same way.

Before you go
