Ground & access
Long, mostly gentle forest trail. Wet sections, and in early season a short stretch can be under water. Biting insects can be intense.

Raquette Falls is a two-part drop on the Raquette River in the High Peaks Wilderness: a two-foot ledge, then a six-foot horseshoe drop about 20 feet downstream. Take Coreys Road south from NY 3 between Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake, keep left at the split to avoid Axton Landing, and park in the lot on the right about 0.2 mile after crossing Stoney Creek. The trail starts at the back of the lot behind the register kiosk and is well signed. Just beyond four miles you reach a clearing with a barn-type building and a ranger residence. Continue past the sign for Lower Falls and follow the trail along the river about 0.1 mile more to Raquette Falls. Return the same way.
