Start at the parking area on the south side of NY 28N across from Tarbell Road, east of Long Lake hamlet. The trail follows Tarbell Road, then old woods roads along the east shore of Long Lake, past many lean-tos, to Shattuck Clearing and the suspension bridge over Moose Creek. Beyond the bridge, cross the Cold River on a second suspension bridge and follow the north bank to Millers Falls and the Seward Lean-to. Most visitors make this an overnight or multi-day trip.
