Iceberg–Ptarmigan Trail from Swiftcurrent to Ptarmigan Falls

NPS lists Ptarmigan Falls at 2.7 miles one way with 700 feet of elevation gain. This is shorter than continuing to Ptarmigan Lake or the tunnel.

Where to start

Visit Montana directs visitors to the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn parking area, then around the road behind the inn to the Iceberg/Ptarmigan trailhead.

Timing & water

NPS warns of autumn snow, active bears and removal of most seasonal bridges by late September. Current route-specific bridge status was not available in the retrieved static trail-status page; check its live map or park staff before hiking.
