Ground & access
Level old road, then an extremely steep and slick scramble path, downed trees and wet, muddy footing. NC Waterfalls warns that a rescue here would be difficult.

Maxie Duke Falls is a waterfall of about 50 feet on Opossum Creek, also called Upper Opossum Creek Falls. Walk the gated old logging road past wildlife clearings; at about 1 mile bear left at a clearing on the right. After another 0.25 miles the road ends and a narrow trail continues into the woods. Where the trail splits, right goes down to Sids Falls; take the obvious path to the left. It is a very steep, slick scramble path of roughly 0.2 mile to the base. For a clear view you may need to cross over downed trees to the right side and scramble up. This partial guide relies on visitor sources; the last part is a steep user path.
