Ground & access
Steep stone steps at the start, then an easy trail with small stream crossings. Dangerous boulders and slick rock near the falls; people have died after slipping from the upper falls.

Upper Wildcat Falls is a tall waterslide on Wildcat Branch, about 130 feet high according to SC Trails. From the parking area, climb the steep stone steps beside the middle falls, then follow the easy, gently sloping trail upstream through rhododendron and laurel. SC Trails says the State Park Service has closed the trail to the upper falls because of many accidents, but that a good view of the upper falls is possible without crossing the dangerous boulders. View the falls from the trail and do not climb on the rocks or the falls. Return the same way.
