This listing is the unnamed waterfall of about 20 to 25 feet a short way up the creek from Toll Road Falls, which visitors call upper Toll Road Falls. Follow the blue-blazed Jones Gap Trail from the park. Stay left at the Rainbow Falls Trail fork, pass Jones Gap Falls, and continue about another mile until the trail bears right away from the river. Pass the orange-blazed Coldspring Branch Trail on the left and reach the footbridge at the base of Toll Road Falls. With the leaves off, the upper falls is visible up the creek. There is no trail; the creek below the falls is covered with downed trees and limbs, and the scramble is difficult. This partial guide relies on one visitor's descriptions.

Where to start

Jones Gap State Park, 303 Jones Gap Road, Marietta, at the end of River Falls Road. Parking reservations are required for guaranteed entry on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 9am to 1pm; otherwise first come, first served. Roadside parking is not allowed. Hikers must fill out a registration card at the trailhead.

Timing & water

Trails close one hour before sunset. The upper falls is easiest to see with the leaves off; Toll Road Falls can be a trickle in dry weather.
