Ground & access
Rocky, eroded trail beside the river, climbing a few hundred feet in the last section. One small stream crossing on stepping stones. The park rates all of its trails as advanced hiking trails.

Jones Gap Falls is a 50-foot waterfall that falls down a rocky stone staircase on a tributary of the Middle Saluda River in Jones Gap State Park. From the parking area, take the footpath across the footbridge over the Middle Saluda and follow the paved path past the picnic area and the park headquarters. Turn left on the service road and cross a bridge to the board that marks the start of the Jones Gap Trail, and fill out a registration form. Follow the blue-blazed Jones Gap Trail upstream and keep left where the Rainbow Falls Trail goes right. At about 1 mile the trail crosses the river on the John Reid Clonts Memorial Bridge. Just past Campsite 11, cross the small tributary on stepping stones and turn right onto the short spur to the falls. Return the same way.
