Waterfall Hero Hikes: Poe Creek Falls (Keowee)

Middle Poe Creek Falls, also called Poe Creek Falls, is a waterfall of about 15 feet on Poe Creek in Keowee-Toxaway State Park. Start on the Natural Bridge Trail behind the park office at the far end of the parking lot. The trail splits in less than 0.1 mile; go right and descend to Poe Creek, reaching a footbridge in just over half a mile. Do not cross; go a short way upstream on the left bank (facing downstream) for a good view of the falls. Return the same way, or continue around the loop.

Waterfall Hero lists a hike length of 1.2 miles and says the footbridge over Poe Creek is just over half a mile along the right-hand branch. The official Natural Bridge Trail is a 1.3-mile loop.

The park rates the Natural Bridge Trail loop moderate to strenuous. The last few yards upstream are off the trail beside the creek; rocks are slippery.

Keowee-Toxaway State Park visitor center parking, off SC 11. The trail begins behind the park office at the trailhead kiosk.
