Ground & access
Easy and flat, along a small creek, partly without a clear trail.

From Cold Springs Creek Road, turn at the sign for the Harmon Den picnic area and horse camp, pass the picnic area, cross the bridge and keep right around the bend to the gate. Of the two small creeks here, follow the second one at the gate. Walk just past the gate and enter the woods on the left. An informal path has formed; if you lose it, follow the creek upstream about 10 minutes to the falls.

Harmon Den horse camp gate off Cold Springs Creek Road, informal path up Little Fall Branch

Rich Stevenson gives no measured distance; the source says to follow the creek upstream for about 10 minutes from the gate.

Easy and flat, along a small creek, partly without a clear trail.

Where to start

Near the gate past the Harmon Den horse camp, 3.7 miles up Cold Springs Creek Road (FR 148) from I-40 exit 7. Do not block the gate, and leave room for horse trailers to turn around.

Timing & water

The Forest Service storm-damage page lists closed Harmon Den roads (Haynes Road, Hurricane Spur and Buzzard Roost Road when gated) but not Cold Springs Creek Road. Wildflowers peak mid April to early May, according to the source.
