Ground & access
Old road and short woods path; marshy spot crossed by a boardwalk. Slippery rock at the river.

Hart's Falls is on the Grass River in the 33-acre Hart's Falls Preserve, donated to the St. Lawrence Land Trust in 2015. From the parking area a single trail, an old road, follows the edge of the forest and field for about a quarter mile to a wooden boardwalk over a marshy spot. Just after the boardwalk, take the unmarked but obvious trail to the right into the woods; in a couple of minutes it reaches the river at the falls, with mill ruins just downstream. The river is narrow and powerful here and the smooth rocks are very slippery when wet. The route description dates from 2020.
