From the Canyon Creek trailhead, hike north on the east side of Canyon Creek. Keep left at the Bear Creek trail junction. Past McKay Camp at 2.5 miles, the trail switchbacks up; the top of the first switchbacks is the only point on the main trail with a clear view of the falls. At about 4 miles, just after a stream crossing, a rough, unmaintained route heads southwest to the base of the falls. Return the same way.
