Waterfall Loop Trail from the Uvas Canyon County Park day-use area

The 3.5-mile figure is the whole loop past three waterfalls, not the distance to Black Rock Falls alone. A shorter option stays on the Waterfall Loop Trail, which follows Swanson Creek for about a mile.

Where to start

Park in the Uvas Canyon County Park day-use area. Peninsula Open Space Trust says a $6 day-use vehicle pass and an advance reservation are required; an older hiking guide says weekend reservations ended in 2018. Check Santa Clara County Parks before you go.

Timing & water

All year, but winter and spring are best for the falls. The park is open 8 a.m. to sunset.

Before you go

Peninsula Open Space Trust lists a $6 day-use vehicle pass and advance reservations seven days a week. Confirm the current rule with Santa Clara County Parks, because sources disagree on reservations.
