Follow the red-blazed Falls Branch loop from the trailhead near the amphitheater. It crosses Little Canyon Creek, reaches Falls Creek Falls and returns along the lake. The firsthand account recommends following signs counterclockwise. Stay on the Falls Branch route rather than continuing onto the longer Dam Mountain or Horseshoe Mountain trails.

Follow the main park road to its end, passing the amphitheater immediately before the trail parking lot. Nick Garcia identifies this as parking for the Falls Branch, Horseshoe Mountain and Dam Mountain trailheads; Ouachita Mountain Hikers independently describe starting at the road-end parking lot in the campground. Official trailhead coordinates are 34.431417,-92.913667.
