The Forest Service says St. Joe Lake Trail #49 follows the upper St. Joe Wild and Scenic River and passes Rambikur Falls, named for a Forest Service employee at Red Ives Ranger Station. It calls the trail among the easiest in the area. Return the same way. The trailhead is a long drive on a narrow primitive road.
Plan your visit
St. Joe Lake Trail #49 from its trailhead at the end of Road 320 up the upper St. Joe River to Rambikur Falls
The Forest Service gives Trail #49 as 6.1 miles to St. Joe Lake. MyTopo puts the falls 0.4 mile from the lake, which is map separation, not trail distance. The walk to the falls is therefore somewhat shorter than 6.1 miles each way, but it is not stated.
Single-track trail. Old mining areas with cabins along the way.
